Mark the return of the Bayeux Tapestry to British shores with a KS3 visit to remember.

Explore a life-size replica of the 70m tapestry.
Discover Activity Stations and British Museum audio-visual resources which bring the Tapestry to life.
Develop historical enquiry skills in a curriculum-linked workshop.
Unearth the secrets of the Tapestry and learn to decode evidence of Saxon life, from battle tactics to battlefield food, medicine and hair-styles.
Take the ‘Fake News Challenge’ and interrogate the value of the Tapestry as an historical source.
Discover Swindon’s connection to the Tapestry and the consequences of this turning point in British history for Swindon’s inhabitants.
Get hands-on with original and replica Saxon weapons and artefacts.
Try Medieval embroidery and weaving and find out how and why the Tapestry was made.

Tailored to KS3 and delivered by the Museums Learning Team. Perfect for exploring concepts of historical perspective, reliability and bias, and for drawing connections between local and national history. Supports teaching of the Norman Invasion, its key events, causes and consequences.
