The main and closest car parking for STEAM is located at the Swindon Designer Outlet North and West Car Parks which are just five minutes’ walk from the Museum.
If you are using a Sat Nav, please enter ‘Kemble Drive’ for the North car park or ‘Penzance Drive’ for the West car park.
Please note the bus lane next to the West car park should NOT be used. Cameras are in use and fines will be issued by Swindon Borough Council.
Visitor car parking is kindly provided by the Swindon Designer Outlet which are just five minutes’ walk from the Museum.
To find us using Sat Nav, enter Kemble Drive (SN2 2NA) for the North car park or Penzance Drive (SN5 7JL) for the West car park, conveniently located for easy access from the M4 motorway, at junction 16.
Please note the car park system is ticketless. You will need to enter your registration on exit at the payment machines to pay.

Please also be aware, road traffic around Kemble Drive and the Swindon Designer Outlet car parks can get very busy for the Great Western Brick Show and Christmas at STEAM events.
Alternative car parks are at nearby Bristol Street* (SN1 5EQ) and the Brunel North (SN1 5AH) and West (SN1 5AN) multi-storey car parks in the town centre. These are approximately 10-20 minutes’ walk from the Museum. Visit our How to Find Us page for more details.
*From Bristol Street car park, turn left and keep going until you come to a pedestrian sign directing you through the GWR tunnel and connects you to the Churchward site. Your route will pass English Heritage and Thomas Homes apartments, soon leading to STEAM Museum.
Visitor disabled car parking spaces are provided close to the STEAM main entrance. The access control is managed by Swindon Designer Outlet. Press the intercom button when you approach the barrier to the parking area for entry.
