The Museum's archive holds a range of material regarding the role of the GWR and its employees during WW1.  

One such item is the GWR's Great War Book. This unique record provides a comprehensive account of the men who served and died in the war, their position within the GWR, where they were stationed and how they died.

The Museum also holds copies of the GWR Magazine for the war period.  These provide the names of GWR employees who either died, or were injured in the war.  The magazine includes photographs of the men who died.

Wartime GWR - by Elaine Arthurs and Felicity Jones, published September 2014

A fascinating pictorial book compiled and written by STEAM's Curatorial team.  Published by Ian Allen Publishing, this useful reference source uses images from the Museum's archive and is an account of the GWR's involvement in both World Wars.
