THIS EASTER we have two exciting new exhibitions: 'The Art of Publicity' and 'The GWR Publicity Machine' - celebrating the wonderful advertising, publicity materials and merchandise produced by the GWR.

To link with these fabulous exhibitions, we're running FREE drop-in family activities to add an extra learning dimension to your visit.

Check out our new Easter trails too as we explore Clocks and Time in celebration of springtime.

'Logo-motion' Family Drop-in Activities   

5 April, 10am - 12 noon and 1pm -3pm
 
Join our friendly Learning Team and create your own badge - inspired by the GWR logo - to take home.

This activity follows the theme of our new exhibitions, 'The Art of Publicity' and 'The GWR Publicity Machine'.
 
A small charge of £1.50 applies for this activity, on top of standard admission and  STEAM Season Tickets. All tickets can be purchased on the day.
   

'Loco Logos' Family Drop-in Activities*

12 April, 10am-12 noon and 1pm-3pm
  
Join our friendly Learning Team and make a real impression as you
create your own logo and make a printing block from clay!
 
This activity follows the theme of our new exhibitions, 'The Art of Publicity' and 'The GWR Publicity Machine'
 
This activity is FREE with standard admission and to STEAM Season Ticket holders.
  

GWR  Clock Trail 

Every Day
 
Take up the challenge and explore the world of clocks inside STEAM. You'll be amazed at what you discover!
   

STEAM Time Trail 

Every Day
 
This fun trail explores 'Time' as you discover fascinating objects on your journey through the Museum, adding an extra learning dimension to your visit.
 
These trails are FREE with standard admission and to STEAM Season Ticket holders.
 

Meet the Railway Workers

7 April, 10.00 am – 4.00 pm  
 
Our friendly team of volunteers welcome you aboard No. 4073 Caerphilly Castle, No. 3717 City of Truro and No. 6000 King George V!  
 
This unique experience is FREE with standard admission and to STEAM Season Ticket holders.
 

Special Detective Activity Box

Available every day
 
Have heaps of fun following clues on the STEAM mystery trail that takes you around the Museum. Our unique STEAM Detective Box includes a magnifying glass and secret message pen plus trail and fun puzzles. So get set for uncovering important evidence as you explore intriguing hands-on objects and famous steam engines!
 
Cost: £5 per box in addition to the standard STEAM ticket price.  
 

Play Areas for Young Children

Every Day, 10.00 am - 5.00 pm
 
Young children really get to use their imagination with the Museum’s dedicated play areas which include play tables for colouring fun and interactive wooden toys.
 

Platform One Café

Open Every Day, 10.00 am - 4.00 pm
 
To keep everyone's energy levels up, the Museum's Platform One Café has a whole range of tempting meals and refreshments to suit all tastes and budgets. (There’s a 5% discount in the Café to STEAM Season Ticket holders too.)

STEAM is fully accessible is open every day: 
Mon-Sat 10.00 am - 5.00 pm (last admission at 4.00 pm) and
Sunday 11.00am - 4.00pm (last admission 3.00pm. 
 
Please note that under 16s must be supervised by an adult at STEAM.
 
There’s free parking at the Swindon Designer Outlet car parks. Please ask for details at the STEAM ticket desk.
