When: Monday 08 January 2018 12:00 AM - Sunday 06 January 2019 05:00 PM

The Art of Publicity: Special Exhibition
During the 1920s and 30s, the GWR Publicity Department worked hard to advertise its service and encourage holiday makers to travel by rail.  One of the main forms of publicity was the railway poster.
The GWR employed some of the finest graphic designers of the times to produce the artwork for its posters.  This resulted in many beautiful and iconic publicity posters which retain their appeal to this day.
The Art of Publicity is a special exhibition that showcases a number of striking publicity materials produced by the GWR. Showing beautiful posters and carriage prints from the STEAM collection, The Art of Publicity will take visitors on a journey across the Great Western Network.
Discover the ways in which the Great Western Railway Publicity Department advertised the company’s service and encouraged holiday makers to travel by rail.
You are also invited to join STEAM on a virtual journey through time, across the GWR network. Each month we will be sharing a historical image of a location along the GWR route, beginning at Paddington Station in London, travelling west and ending in Penzance in Cornwall.
Follow us on Facebook: @SteamMuseum, and Twitter: @Steam_Museum.
The Art of Publicity is included with standard STEAM admission, special event admission and also to STEAM season ticket holders.
