Fitness Classes

Guide to Fitness Classes

Moving Fitness Forward is our comprehensive fitness programme designed to provide all of our customers with a varied and exciting choice of classes.

Multi-level teaching is applied to our classes to ensure that beginners through to advanced participants can attend any class and work at a level most suited to their present level of fitness.

Our classes are delivered weekly across seven centres by professionally qualified instructors.

We believe that we offer an unrivalled choice of easy to follow and challenging fitness activities to suit all of your exercise needs at an affordable price, all that you need to keep your fitness moving forward!

Fitness Class Wallchart and Grading System

Our new fitness wallchart is available at all of the councils recreation sites. We run a comprehensive range of fitness classes for all abilities - so come along and give one a go!

We have simplified our class grading system:

Intensity

Level

Description

1

A low-impact class suitable for beginners and those returning to exercise. Includes functional body conditioning exercises at a low to moderate intensity.

Suitable for 14+ years.

2

A low to high-impact class aimed at an intermediate level. This class may include some flexibility and toning exercises for an all-round work out.

Suitable for 14+ years (excluding Body Balance).

3

A challenging high-intensity workout combining high and low impact exercises or intense resistance exercises.

Suitable for 16+ years.

Complexity

Level

Description

A An easy class to follow, offering low levels of complexity, ideal for beginners
B A class offering moderate to high levels of complexity to challenge the mind as well as the body.
C A class requiring higher levels of co-ordination.

These fitness class gradings can be found beside each fitness class on the Fitness Wallchart and on the sites own fitness class websites. Pick up a Fitness Wallchart at any of our sites or click onto one of the fitness class links to the right.

For those that use our facilities more than once a week, our Leisure Passport can save you money. It provides an unlimited casual use of our

as well as discounted racquet sports for adults.
