Mobile Media: Media Box FAQ

What is Mediabox?

If you're 13 to 19 years old and live in England, Mediabox can give you the opportunity to develop and produce creative media projects for film, television, radio, online and multi media platforms.

Mediabox is for you to express your opinions, ideas and views, gain new skills and get your voices heard.

What's on offer?

Mediabox offers three different types of grants ranging from £100 to £80,000 to create and distribute youth-led media projects that express young people's ideas and/or views in a creative way, using their preferred media platform.

Mediabox: Reaching out 4 Change

Create was one of a handful of media organisations across the country to achieve support through the new MixMediabox strand at the end of last year. Since January the Create team has been working with over 60 young people in 4 Swindon Secondary schools, all making media to create positive messages about diversity.

We are gearing up for a premiere event on Monday 19th July, 7.30pm at the Wyvern Theatre.

The project has been led by a steering group of young people who are also working towards Arts Award accreditation.

Nova Hreod – working with Photographer Mark Pepperall of Hot Pepper Design, 35 participants are creating a poster campaign challenging negative language about diversity

Ridgeway School, Wroughton – have produced a drama made with filmmaker, Gurchetan Singh. The piece explores the similarity between 2 girls who are very different at face value.

Churchfields School – are producing a documentary about the experience of being a refugee or an outsider coming to the UK with filmmaker Keith Phillips

St Joseph’s Catholic College – are creating a mixed media installation working with visual media artist Jill Carter. The pieces seek to challenge themes of bullying and gang culture.
