GWR 175 Railway Workers Weekend28 and 29 August, 10-00am-5.00pm
Prepare to be amazed at the extraordinary achievements of ordinary men and women who dedicated their lives to the railway and became part of the great railway revolution that changed our lives forever. The weekend will focus on the award-winning displays at STEAM and our much-valued team of STEAM volunteers. Visitors will be encouraged to climb aboard legendary locomotives like Caerphilly Castle and Evening Star and invited to 'take the controls' as the story of steam comes to life. Visitors of all ages can use their imagination as they travel back in time through the story-telling displays, with the chance to 'be a signalman' (with certificates for children) in our interactive signal box as well as an 'engine driver' on-board our steam engine simulator. There will be free entry on both days for railway workers (please bring some form of relevant ID) as part of the GWR 175 celebrations. Normal admission applies to other visitors. |

There's plenty to see and do and fun for everyone as enthusiasts and families from all over the country are invited to this special weekend that celebrates the people that built and worked on the Great Western Railway!
