Steaming to Victory Evening Talk

When: Monday 14 April 2014 12:00 AM - Monday 14 April 2014 10:00 PM
On one weekend, in September 1939, more than a million frightened and confused children were evacuated from towns and cities to the countryside, by train! During World War Two, trains achieved astonishing feats of transporting people and goods and the railway system was the lifeline of the nation.
Writer on railways for many publications and a senior lecturer in journalism, Michael Williams is the author of the newly-published Steaming to Victory, the definitive history of the British railways during the Second World War.
