In the 1920s, more and more passengers were travelling by railway.

So a stronger passenger train , or 'locomotive' was needed.

The Great Western Railway engineer, Charles Collett, took up the challenge to design a stronger and more powerful  engine.

When King George V was built in 1927, the railway had the perfect passenger train: bigger, stronger and faster than what came before.

Join the fun and create your own invention...

Can you build a better passenger carrier than our parachutes?

Meet the Railway Workers

Saturdays 19 August; 2, 16 and 30 September, 10.00am - 4.00pm
