How to Reappear
‘I have already lost touch with a couple of people I used to be.’ – Joan Didion
You’re standing in the mist, a suitcase at your feet, and you’re wondering how you got here. Behind you in the distance a familiar voice is calling, but the words are unclear. The fog begins to thicken. If you don’t do something soon you may disappear completely.
You look down at the suitcase and begin to open it. Inside there is the smell of wet grass, an entire miniature city, the sound of your grandmother singing and a blue sky. Keys to the past; signposts to an exit out of this gathering mist?
