Literature flies its flag at the Arts Centre in October and December.
To mark the fortieth anniversary of the death of one of the twentieth century's most intriguing writers and artists, the son of novelist and illustrator Mervyn Peake will be appearing at the Arts Centre on 29 October.
Sebastian Peake, whose father is best know for the Gormenghast trilogy, which tells the story of Titus Groan, will give an illustrated talk and performance on the life and work of this fascinating writer.
On December 18, as Christmas approaches, author Dr Patrick Harding brings a brilliantly illustrated and informative show to the Arts Centre that will tells all there is to know about the season of goodwill and all its customs.
We will discover why Santa wears red; why we hang up holly; what reindeers drink; and why we do what we do under mistletoe! To help get us into Christmas spirit, mulled wine and mince pies will make the evening complete.
Anyone who has enjoyed events at the town's Festival of Literature will find plenty to please them in these two events.
